Add-In Support For Management Studio

Is there add-in support for SQL Server 2005 Management Studio?

I want to build a script management add-in that is callable from the popup menu of the query window. I haven't been able to find anything on building add-ins for Management Studio on MSDN or the web. Did I miss something? Or is SDK/add-in support not available yet for Mangement Studio?

Thanks.

Grant,

We do not current support third-party add-ins in Management Studio, though we don't explicitly lock this down. There are a few people out there who have figured out how get their add-in to surface. If you decide to go this route there is no guarantee that we won't break you in a service pack or future release.

Cheers,
Dan

Add-in for SQL Server Mnagement Studio 2005

Hi,
I notice that a few third party SQL Server tool developers (RedGate
for example) have started to sell utilities that appear as add-ins
to
SQL Server Management Studio 2005 (with additional menu's and
dialogs).
I cant find any documentation on how you do this. Is it an
unsupported hack ? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction
on how I would work out how to do this.
(Sorry for the cross post, I posted the same message in
microsoft.public.sqlserver.server by mistake).
Thanks in advance,
Matt

|||Ok. Thanks for your reply (in the other group). If I can work out
how to do it, ill put up a blog post explaining it. I notice that it
will be a supported feature in the next release of SSMS though so may
just wait for that.
Thanks.

Add Reporting Services to Trusted Accounts

I installed SQL 2005 SP2 and RS add-in for Sharepoint to a WSS 3.0 site.

I get the error: 'A connection to the server cannot be established' when I try to use the sharepoint account set up for this purpose. It is in the farm administrators, and has the required permissions when I check the database. Are there any other recommended troubleshooting tips that I can do? Thanks.

Dan

FYI - I resolved the problem by adding the account to the local group WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG. This account needs to be in the Local Administrator's group, and the groups starting with WSS.

Ad hoc report with Visual Web Developer 2005 Express?

Hi. I use Visual Web Developer 2005 Express (hereafter VWD) with the
the MS Reporting Services Add-in. I've successfully created a report
using this service. But the SQL query I used was pre-defined.
I am wondering if this add-in with VWD lets us do ad hoc reports. For
example, let the end user select from a list of available fields and
set the condition criteria.
Any hint? Thx.Why to reinvent the wheel, whatever you thought of doing is already there in
Report Builder so make use of it.
Provided you have SS2005. If not possibly you can go for one.
