Adding a static text to a report header?

Does anyone know how to add static text to the report in the same section where report parameters and View Report are located?

Thanks,

Yadgor2000

Drop a textbox in the header and type into it. Bear in mind that a rich/html textbox is not supported so you can't format individual words. Any formats and fonts will apply to the entire contents of the textbox.|||

Will the static text render before the report is run?

Thanks

YADGOR2000

|||No. When you run the report you will see the green circular loading gif and only once the report output has been generated in the RSTempDB database the report HTML will be sent to the client for output. I think you're referring to the way HTML tables get rendered as soon as the browser detects a closing </table> tag. This is not the way things work in RS.

Adding a full text search across multiple tables (with text fields)

Hi, i'm trying to do a full text search on my site to add a weighting score to my results. I have the following database structure:

Documents:
- DocumentID (int, PK)
- Title (varchar)
- Content (text)
- CategoryID (int, FK)

Categories:
- CategoryID (int, PK)
- CategoryName (varchar)

I need to create a full text index which searches the Title, Content and CategoryName fields. I figured since i needed to search the CategoryName field i would create an indexed view. I tried to execute the following query:

CREATE VIEW vw_Documents
WITH SCHEMABINDING AS
SELECT dbo.Documents.DocumentID, dbo.Documents.Title, dbo.Documents.[Content], dbo.Documents.CategoryID, dbo.Categories.CategoryName
FROM dbo.Categories INNER JOIN dbo.Documents ON dbo.Categories.CategoryID = dbo.Documents.CategoryID

GO
CREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX vw_DocumentsIndex
ON vw_Documents(DocumentID)

But this gave me the error:

Cannot create index on view 'dbname.dbo.vw_Documents'. It contains text, ntext, image or xml columns.

I tried converting the Content to a varchar(max) within my view but it still didn't like.

Appreciate if someone can tell me how this can be done as surely what i'm trying to do is not ground breaking.

Hi jgd12345,

After talking with my colleagues i find a solution:

First you need to change Content datatype from text to varchar(max);

Then set the following options:

SET CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL ON

|||Cheers, i'll test this out when i get back to the office. Thanks again.

Added text field to database. New entries not equal to ""

Hi!
I'm accessing an MS Access database from an ASP server.
I just added a new text column (field) to one of my tables. I have not added
any data to this new field in any of the rows.
I read the field in and compare it to "" and it's coming up as false.
How do identify the empty fields?

if rsSet("region") = "" then response.write "Blank" else response.write

Try
If IsNull (rsSet("region")) Then Response.Write "Null" Else Response.Write

Add Version to Custom Report

Hello
Has anybody found a good way to add version control to a report? I could
add a text box to the report and enter Version:20060927. Because this is a
manual operation some developers may forget and it will become unreliable.
If someone found a better way please let me know.
Thanks
Johnuse Globals!ExecutionTime expression. It will display the date and time
when the report is generated. Playing around with it will help you produce
what you wanted.

As far as I know, there is not a way to do this directly; however, you
could try converting the text file to an HTML page and using the Jump
to URL property of a control to point to the HTML file on the Web
Server. Hope this helps.

Add Titles to columns in a matrix report

I have a matrix report and it doesn't add titles to the different groupings. And when you try and add a text box it spans across all grouping columns. How do you add titles to these columns?

Cheers
Damien

When you use a matrix, the titles for the column groups are going to be the values specified in that group. For example, if you group the columns by State, then you will have each state listed at the top of each column.

I'm not sure of any way to add an extra row at the top of a matrix for a title. However, if nothing else, you could add a textbox right before the matrix to add a title. The only problem is this wouldn't be displayed on each page.

|||In a matrix report I need a way to provide titles for the groupings not the detail listings. There doesn't appear to be a way to do this in reporting services 2005?

add text to a column

Hi,
I am mapping the .csv files to a destination table in sql server.
The names of each column in the .csv file is the same as the ones in the destination table.
In the destination table there is an extra field i.e. FileTypeField

Here is the question;
When transfering the data from .csv to the destination table i.e flat file source to oledb destination, I would like to place a text into the field FileTypeField
I do not see an option to do this. Can you help please?
Thanks

Use a derived column transformation to add a column to the data flow. Then you'll just map that new column to the destination table.|||Thanks

Add Spaces before text

Hi,

I want to add some extra spaces before a text value. I'm using the below expression

=IIF(Fields!ParentLevel.Value=2or Fields!ParentLevel.Value=1,Space(4) & UCase(Fields!Business_Unit_Name.Value),(Fields!Business_Unit_Name.Value))

Spaces are added when I preveiw the report in VS.NET IDE. However, If I deploy the report on Report Server and view the report in Browser (IE7) I'm not able to see extra spaces that I'm seeing in preview.

Is there anything I'm missing here?

Quick help is highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Chakra

Hi,
This will more than likely be a html render "issue" as opposed to your code.
Instead of inserting spaces try inserting 4 non-breaking spaces...

Is your DateKey column is of DateTime type? DateTime is 8 bytes widenot 8 chars. Are you using Enterprise Manager ? If yes then clickon Default value and set the default date to whatever you want in thisformat 'yyyyMMdd' . For example for today '20050606'

There is no way to change the list of highlighted words. I would actually
guess that the list is hardcoded. After all, QA is to designed against a
certain version of SQL Server, so new keywords are not likely to appear
out of the blue. :-)

It's actually hardcoded, and found this out the hardway when a dll was no longer registered.
the syntax highlighting functionality is done by a dll named sqllex.dll that is typically found in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn directory;
if you unregister the dll, you'll lose the syntax highlighting completely; re-registering it restores the functionality, which i discovered when uninstalling/reinstalling after a beta of SQL 2005.
because the list of keywords is in the DLL, and not in a file the DLL uses, there's no way to ADD keywords unless you could replace that dll with your own enhanced verison.
HTH.

Add Disclaimer Text to the RS report Subscription

I want to know , how to add Company Disclaimer text whenever Report is
Subscribed for Email. Either directly From Report Manager subscription / using
Create Subscription Web Methods. I don't want to put it as Report Footer.
Thanks!Hi,
It is not possible to put it in the email. Moreover you dont wont it in the
report as well. So no way, probabily you can think off at mail server end
again it will be difficult to identify each and every mail for the report. :-(
Just an idea. Its a very round about method and dont think it is advisable.
You need to write a small utility to pick up mails from the mailbox of the
server which should not have the gateway. If you dont give the gateway, what
happens is that the mails in .eml format will be at outbox at
inetpub\mailroot. your utility should pick these mails and send it through a
gateway. while sending it you may add the disclaimer.
I have not tried on adding something. But I have done this utility to pick
this mails and send it via other SMTP.

show it for only Report subscription (Email /MHTML ) or may be enable through
hidden parameter which sets to show & hide footer.

Thats the solution I thought first, but you had given that email should have
disclaimer and not on the report.
Again. You can do what you have mentioned but not in email. Other solution
also I thought of but didn't post it because it is something to do with
manipulating the report server tables.
It goes like this.
As you know that "catalog" table keeps report info and "subscription" has
subscription what you can do is to check any report has an entry in the
subscription table with ID from catalog. If exists then check for delivery
extension if it is email then enable the footer other wise no.
something like that . But haven;t tried.

Add column with fixed number of values (text) to the select statement

Hello,

I have such a problem. Need to add additional column to my query. The column should consist of set of fixed number (same as number of query rows) values (text). At start thought it's simple but now Im lost. Is there any chance to do it. Apreciate any help. I need to tell that I have only access to select on this database so no use of operation on tables.

I found on the net something to start with

Adding Columns in SQL SELECT statements by Andy Kramek http://weblogs.foxite.com/andykramek/archive/2005/09/18/921.aspx

SELECT *, CAST( 0 AS INT) AS newint FROM sample

but it just add a column with value 0 to the set of results.

|||

What is the version you are using... (2000/2005) Give some sample data & required output..

|||

I'm using ver. 2005. The select is very simple concerns the tables with historical rates for curves.

So there are four columns:

1) Date

2) Name of the curve

3) DF

4) Implied rate

there are 17 rows of data

and I need to add column with fixed tenors

O/N

T/N

S/N

1W

2W

1M

2M

3M

4M

5M

6M

7M

8M

9M

10M

11M

1Y

|||

Ok.. do you want the result as bellow,

1) Date

2) Name of the curve

3) DF

4) Implied rate

5)O/N

6)T/N

7)S/N

8)1W

9)2W

10)1M

..

..

17)IY

if yes what data you want to display on this 17 columns

|||

Your questions not clear properly. But I think this will help you,

USE PUBS
Go

SELECT COUNT(*) row_num, A.au_lname
FROM authors A, authors B
WHERE A.au_lname > B.au_lname
GROUP BY A.au_lname
ORDER BY COUNT(*)

|||

I want results to look like this:

Tenor / Date / Name of the curve/ DF / Implied rate

O/N 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE 0.9999987 4.020000

T/N 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .

S/N 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .

1W 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .

2W 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .

1M 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .

.

.

.

1Y 1/08/07 EUR_CURVE . .
