Hello,
When i add a user to a database role, enterprise manager
ask me for the user password. I do the same in other
server and and i don't need to give any password.
I've yet the same problem but i cant remember what i've
done to correct this situation.
Best RegardsHi;
Not sure about this issue. I recommend you to add the server / database
fixed roles
from query analyzer.
For the Server wide roles use :-
sp_addsrvrolemember 'login','sysadmin'
For the Database wide roles use:-
use paytest
go
sp_addrolemember 'db_owner','user'
Thanks
Hari

Add TCP/IP and named pipes protocls
Hi,
I have a trouble to connect to my local SQL Server 2005 instances.
I have noticed that "SQL Server Configuration Manager \ SQL Native Client
Configuration \ Client Protocols" is empty, I guest TCP/IP and named pipes
entries should exist !
How to add these protocols ?
Thank youHi
Have you enabled remote connections in the Surface Area Configuration tool?

add new user with all rights to all dbases
Kind of new to Enterprize Manager, just wondering what the steps are to add
a
new user that will have all rights to all databases? Thanks.

Add your new user normally. Either as a Windows Authenticated account or as
a SQL User account.
Add that new user to the sysadmins SQL Server group inside SQL Server.
Just a side note on security here. I hope that this is the user account
that you will be connecting with moving forward and not something you are
planning on giving to everyone who uses the database. ;-)

database administrator that could administer all dbases. This would only be
used by one individual.

Add new user at SQL Server Express Manager
I am unable to add a new user like 'xxx\ASPNET' to the Users under Security from AdventureWorks Database. I edited the SQL query which is "sp_grantlogin 'XXXX\ASPNET' " . It was completed successfully but was not able to add it to the Users.
We are still in beta so use the link below to download the developer edition and use the OLTP(online transaction processing) management studio to creat the user. Hope this helps.

Add new SQL Server in "SQL Server Group"
Hi,
Does anyone know how to add a new SQL Server under the "SQL Server Group"
using Enterprise Manager other than run the setup.exe in MSDE?
Thanks.

SQL EM does not actually create new instances of SQL Server. It only
"adds" instances of SQL Server that already exist to its UI. To create a
new instance of SQL Server, you need to re-run the SQL Server
installation and apply the necessary service packs. I'm not sure MSDE
supports multiple instances. It might, but I'm not sure.

Add new column?
How do you add a new column in a table between two existing columns (like when you add columns with enterprise manager) using alter table?
/y0d4Is this a slow forum or is the topic to trivial for people to open it?
/y0d4|||An ATLER TABLE statement only adds the column to the end and since this is a relational database there is no problem where the column appears. However if you wish to add the column in a partical position then:
Example
CREATE TblA
(
col1 int,
col3 int,
col4 int
)
exec sp_rename Tb1A, OldTb1A
go
CREATE TblA
(
col1 int,
col2 int,
col3 int,
col4 int
)
GO
INSERT Tb1A (col1,col2,col3 ,col4 )
SELECT col1, 0,col3 ,col4
FROM OldTb1A
GO
DROP TABLE OldTb1A
GO
Do get a better idea of handling IDENTITY and so forth columns turn Profiler on and go into Enterprise Manager under the design Table option and insert a column into the middle of table and Save. You will see all the transactions that Microsoft does to perform this in Profiler.

Add MS SQL 7.0 server in MS SQL 2000 SEM
Hi.
Rookie question.
Is it possible to add a MS SQL 7.0 server in a MS SQL 2000 Server Enterprise
Manager consol? I've added a login on the MS SQL 7.0 server, dedictaed to
the MS SQL 2000 login, but the 7.0 server appear to be "not associated with
a trusted SQL Server connection" when I try to register the 7.0 server in
the 2000 consol.
Please guide me on this one if you can.
Regards
Mr. SmithHi
SQL Server 2000 EM can manage SQL Server 7.0 installations.
Your problem is security. Are you logged on using an account that has
permissions on the SQL Server 7.0 server and domain? If not, you need to be
given the rights. Else, connect using SQL Server security by passing in a
Username and Password.

Regards

Add javascript code to report page inside the report manager
Hi all,
Does anyone knows how can I add some javascript code into the html page
which contains a report into the report manager?.
Let's the following scenario, suppose that any user wants to execute some
reports from report manager, first the user goes to http://server/reports
after that he/she will be at home page configured due to his/her profile, the
user select a report with a click and, he/she executes it. The report will be
rendered in html inside the same window where the report manager is, but in
different frame.
I know using both htc and css files I can modify some behavior of the html
page but, the problem is that both report manager and the rendered report
coexist in the same window( I mean different frames for each of them ) I
don't know how to add some javascript code into the frame or page or whatever
the report lives in.
Any help will be appreciated.Hi
in the htc you can access the frame page which contain the report and the
report manager using the javascript dhtml code.
you can use like
frame[0].document.
or window.document.getelementbyID['asd'].
you dont have to insert script in the frame
you can put all the code in htc to call the code..

thanks for your answer but, how can I know which frame contains the rendered
report?.
The htc file I coded is the following
<public:component tagName="test1">
<PUBLIC:ATTACH EVENT="oncontextmenu" onevent="f_CancelEvent()" />
<PUBLIC:ATTACH EVENT="onselectstart" onevent="f_CancelEvent()" />
<PUBLIC:ATTACH EVENT="ondragstart" onevent="f_CancelEvent()" />
</public:component>
<SCRIPT language="javascript">
function f_CancelEvent()
{
event.returnValue = false;
}
</script>
After that, I reference that piece of code in a css file as following
body {
margin: 0;
background-color: White;
font-family: Verdana, Sans-Serif;
font-size: x-small;
behavior: url(../js/test1.htc);
}

are you using 2000 or 2005 reporting service?
in 2000 there is only one iframe so you can just use
window.frames.item(0)
or
window.document.getElementById(framid) if it is 2005
hope it helps

I'm using SSRS 2000.
Actually, I don't know how can I reference the iframe from htc file. Let me
explain.
What I want to do is to disable select any text or image inside the report
frame and, disable contextual menu too, that's why I posted the code
yesterday.
Could you please help me to do that?
I really appreciated your help.

Add Formula for a column
I'm trying to add a formula to a column in a Table, in Enterprise Manager,
but I'm not being allowed.
I want a column to be multiplication of two other columns, datatypes money
and decimal.
I'm typing SubTotal * TaxRate ...
What's the big deal with this?
Hi Calvin
As per my knowledge you cannot add formula to the table. You can do this in
your query.
If u feel you use the formula frequently, u can create a VIEW of UDF
Hope this will solve your problem.
Thanks and regards

Add Disclaimer Text to the RS report Subscription
I want to know , how to add Company Disclaimer text whenever Report is
Subscribed for Email. Either directly From Report Manager subscription / using
Create Subscription Web Methods. I don't want to put it as Report Footer.
Thanks!Hi,
It is not possible to put it in the email. Moreover you dont wont it in the
report as well. So no way, probabily you can think off at mail server end
again it will be difficult to identify each and every mail for the report. :-(
Just an idea. Its a very round about method and dont think it is advisable.
You need to write a small utility to pick up mails from the mailbox of the
server which should not have the gateway. If you dont give the gateway, what
happens is that the mails in .eml format will be at outbox at
inetpub\mailroot. your utility should pick these mails and send it through a
gateway. while sending it you may add the disclaimer.
I have not tried on adding something. But I have done this utility to pick
this mails and send it via other SMTP.

show it for only Report subscription (Email /MHTML ) or may be enable through
hidden parameter which sets to show & hide footer.

Thats the solution I thought first, but you had given that email should have
disclaimer and not on the report.
Again. You can do what you have mentioned but not in email. Other solution
also I thought of but didn't post it because it is something to do with
manipulating the report server tables.
It goes like this.
As you know that "catalog" table keeps report info and "subscription" has
subscription what you can do is to check any report has an entry in the
subscription table with ID from catalog. If exists then check for delivery
extension if it is email then enable the footer other wise no.
something like that . But haven;t tried.

Add Datafile
I have a need to add a secondary datafile. My question pertains to the
FIlegroups tab in Enterprise Manager. Do I need to change the value of the
Primary Filegroup 'Files' from 1 to 2? From researching, I believe that a
database can only have one primary file.
Hi
I prefer to do such things by QA not by EM
CREATE DATABASE databasename
GO
ALTER DATABASE databasename SET RECOVERY FULL
ALTER DATABASE databasename ADD FILEGROUP new_customers
ALTER DATABASE databasename ADD FILEGROUP sales
GO
ALTER DATABASE databasenameADD FILE

FILENAME='d:\mw.dat1')
TO FILEGROUP new_customers
